5 Simple Morning Habits to Help Kids Start Their Day with Jesus

September 5th, 2024

Mornings with kids can feel like a whirlwind breakfast, backpacks, mismatched socks, and a mad dash out the door. But what if you could help your kids start their day with peace instead of panic and Jesus at the center?

Here are five simple, doable habits to bring more faith into your children’s mornings, no matter how busy life gets.

1) Start with a Short Devotional

Before screens or schoolwork, invite your kids to spend 5 minutes in God’s Word. Keep it fun and age-appropriate!

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”Proverbs 22:6

2) Create a Prayer Moment

While eating breakfast or before heading out the door, say a short prayer together. Ask God to guide their steps, guard their hearts, and help them shine His light.

3) Play Worship Music

Music sets the atmosphere! Play soft worship or upbeat Christian songs while everyone gets ready. It’s a simple way to keep the focus on Jesus without adding another “task.”

Try creating a Spotify playlist that is ready to go!

4) Pack a Verse in Their Lunchbox

Slip a Bible verse or encouraging note into their lunchbox. It’s a small way to remind them God is with them all day long.

5) Speak a Blessing Over Them

Before they head out, place your hand on their shoulder and speak life over them: “May the Lord bless you and keep you today. May you be kind, brave, and full of joy.”

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you.” Numbers 6:24–25

You don’t need a perfect routine to point your kids toward Jesus you just need intentional moments. One verse, one prayer, one song can set the tone for their whole day.
